The Manchester United team to face Newcastle United this afternoon has been announced.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been compelled to make changes to his team after the thoroughly disappointing result against Watford at the weekend.

The major topic of conversation is Paul Pogba’s recall into the first team after his cameo appearance from the bench at Vicarage Road. Pogba was one of the most impressive players, albeit in a 2-0 defeat, and Solskjaer will be hoping the Frenchman inspired an upturn in form after recent poor performances. However he will have to do so from the bench.

Elsewhere there are changes in the defence; Victor Lindelof keeps his place despite a poor showing at Watford, and Luke Shaw is also fortunate to retain his place.

Scott McTominay came off injured against Watford but has recovered to play today.

Mason Greenwood and Andreas Pereira have been called into the team, with Lingard and James dropping to the bench.
